What it does: The DCN allows network operators at a Network Operations Center (NOC) to remotely log into each network element (Transponder, Mux/Demux, Optical Amplifier, ROADM) to: · Set up and tear down optical channels (wavelengths). · Configure optical power levels and gain settings on amplifiers. · Program ROADMs to add, drop, or pass through specific wavelengths. · Download software updates and patches. 2.
